Use this setup for a quarterly consulting retainer.

Scenario

You charge R15,000 every quarter for ongoing advisory support.

Setup

1. Create a product

   • Name: Quarterly Consulting Retainer
   • Description: Strategic business consulting - 10 hours per month
   • Price: R15,000
   • Billing cycle: Quarterly

2. Add the customer

   • Name: ABC Tech Solutions
   • Email: [e-mail]

3. Create the subscription

   • Select the customer and product
   • Choose Quarterly billing
   • Pick a start date (at least tomorrow)
   • Optional: add a reference number for the contract

What happens next

• Billing runs on the start date and then every quarter.
• You can track each charge in Payments.
• For retry timing and failed payment handling, see Billing and retries.

Best practices

• Use reference numbers to match your contract or invoice system.
• If the rate changes, create a new subscription at the next cycle.
• Use Pause when a client needs a temporary break.
